Using Yoga Props + Free Guide

Legs up the wall

Hello friends! I have noticed that some students seem hesitant to hop on the prop bandwagon so I thought we could discuss why yoga props are SO wonderful for your body during your practice.

Props are for all levels of yoga students, not just beginners. As we make our way through different shapes, the need for a prop could change day to day but it is about acknowledging that you want/need one first and then making the steps to have them available during all of your practices!

But... Why?

1. Don't be too good for a prop. It is here is here to serve and support your body so while your muscles are training to hold something it has never had to do before, you aren't totally wrecking havoc on your tendons and joints. Strength building in a safe way!

2. Lets get it straight. Props allow for better alignment in postures that our bodies are still working into. They help us move into asanas in a safer way in the long run which is what we all should be aiming for.

3. RELAX, it's going to be fine. Props Aid in relaxation with restorative poses like supta baddha konasana, supported legs up the wall, supported twists ect...

4. Be here now. Having all of the options available allow us to be aware of what our bodies need in each moment of our practice and make adjustments accordingly.

Here is a link to a FREE worksheet talking about the most common props, their at home alternatives and examples of how to use them. Don't be shy!
